Biography, Life story

Sarah Chalke - Sarah Chalke

Sarah Chalke was born on August 27, 1976 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Her father’s name is Doug Chalk, a lawyer, and her mother’s name is Angie Chalk, and she was the second of three children, as she has two siblings, the eldest Natasha and the youngest Piper. Her parents raised her to love culture and art. She and her two sisters participated in local Vancouver theater productions from an early age. When she was 16 years old, she got the chance of her life to present a live children’s program called KidZone on CBC in 1992. As a result, she was chosen to co-star in the TV movie City Boy in the same year, and this was enough to make her a star project for the future.

In 1993, she seized the opportunity of her life when she replaced Alicia Goranson as Becky Conner in the hit TV series Roseanne, which ran on ABC from 1988 to 1997 for nine parts. And Alicia Goranson had decided to leave the family of the series in order to be able to attend university, which put the producers of the series in an embarrassing situation. The character represents the eldest son of the Connor family, and therefore was central to the events of the series. The audition was opened for actresses nominated to play this role, and Chalke was one of them, but she did not expect success for two reasons, namely the length of the filming period and her Canadian nationality. Chalke was surprised when she learned that she had won the role. Especially since the director did not care about the small physique of Sarah Chalke compared to the previous actress, Alicia Joranson.

Soon after, she played the character of Dr. Elliot Reed on NBC’s medical comedy series Scrubs in 2001. Her creativity is highlighted by her excellent jokes and goofy demeanor, and she has gained a wealth of experience co-starring with veteran co-stars Ken Jenkins (as Dr. Kelso). and John S. McGinley (as Doctor Cox).

Chalke graduated from high school in 1995 while filming the seventh season of Roseanne, her third before Joranson decided to return to the role again.

After that, she appeared in a few TV movies, most notably the 1996 movie Stand Against Fear, where she played a teenage cheerleader for her school’s sports teams who must confront sexual harassment. In 1997, Chalke returned to her native Canada to star in the TV movie Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy, based on the novel by Richmond P. Hobson. Technical critics praised the level of Chalke’s performance in playing the role of the beloved teenager Gloria Mackintosh, and the film was an unparalleled success, and the CBC producer decided to turn it into a TV series starring Chalke herself, but it only lasted for one season and it was decided to stop completing the rest of its parts in 1999.

In 2000, she decided to seriously consider leaving the acting profession and focusing on her university studies. But in the midst of her thoughts, she gets the chance of her life as Dr. Elliot Reed in the medical comedy-drama series Scrubs. The story of which revolves around 3 doctors residing in a hospital (two young men and a young woman) and their acquisition of life experience, love, and medical matters. The series succeeded immediately after it was shown on TV. By the end of the first season, it won the admiration of a large number of viewers and became one of the most important and popular series on NBC.

In 2006, Sarah Chalke got engaged to lawyer Jimmy Afifi.

Sarah Chalke is fluent in French and German. In her spare time, she prefers to cook for her friends, especially Thai food and sushi, play the guitar, go hiking, ski (trainer), snowboard, kayak, and read. She only eats fruits and vegetables like her mother. Her father was not like them, but in the end he gave in to their urging and became like them. She owns two dogs, one named Harley and the other named Tankers. She shares her birthday celebration with Alexa Vega and Chandra Wilson. Her parents own an adoption agency. Two years ago, Sarah Chalke managed to convince her parents to make an agreement with several orphanages in China. Actress Markie Post portrayed Sarah Chalke’s mother in two films, the TV movie I’ve Been Waiting for You and the TV series Scrubs.
