Sanjay Dutt was born on the 29th of July 1959 in Mumbai, India. He is the son of Bollywood stars Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt. He has two sisters, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt (Anju). Educated at Lawrence School. He was exposed to drug addiction while he was in high school, and after the death of his mother in 1981, he even underwent psychological treatment in a drug rehabilitation program in Jackson, Mississippi, in the United States, which helped him a lot in treatment for his drug addiction.

Sanjay Dutt started his career in 1981 with the movie ‘Rocky’, which was produced and directed by his father, Sunil Dutt. Then he appeared in many other films, but his real breakthrough came in the role of “Sabhash Ghai” in the movie “Khalnayak” in 1993, which received a nomination for the Film Flair Awards. He won two Filmfare Awards and an Academy Award.

Cases of illegal possession of weapons

According to Judge Cody, Sanjay Dutt attended the dinner party hosted by actor-director Feroz Khan during the filming of Yalgaar in 1992 in Dubai, which was attended by some gang members or group of criminals. In 1993, he was arrested for illegal possession of weapons procured from gangsters involved in the 1993 Mumbai bombings and spent 16 months in jail as a probationer, until he was released on bail in 1995 by the Supreme Court of India.

In 2001, Sanjay refuted the accusations against him that he possessed a Kalashnikov assault rifle and 56 rifles. He also denied that Sameer Hungora and Ibrahim Chavan had visited his residence in a car loaded with weapons and ammunition before the 1993 Mumbai blasts. In 2002, Dutt admitted that the evidence put forward by the CBI against him was fabricated and therefore inadmissible.

In 2006, when drafting charges against Taslim Abba Salem and co-accused Riaz Siddiqui of the 1993 Mumbai Bomb Bombings case, the prosecution said that Salim handed over 9 AK-56s to Sanjay at his office in Bandra in the second week of January 1993.

In 2007, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested Abdul Qayuum Abdul Karim Sheikh, a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim who is wanted by the CBI and the Special Task Force for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bombings.
