Shadia was born on February 8, 1931 in the New Helmeya area in the Abdeen district of Cairo, the capital of Egypt. She is considered one of the most important female artists in Egypt, and she was dubbed by the critics and the audience as the cinema star. Her origins go back to Sharkia Governorate, east of Cairo. Her father is the agricultural engineer, Ahmed Kamal Shaker, and she has a brother called Afaf, who worked as an actress and then retired from the artistic field.

Shadia began her artistic career in 1947 until 1984, during which she presented about 112 films, 10 radio series and one play. Comprehensive appeared in the history of Arab drama. The Egyptian movie (The Idol of the Masses) is considered one of her finest films with the Nightingale of Al-Asmar Abdel Halim Hafez.

Shadia married three times, the first to the engineer Aziz Fathi and the second to the artist Imad Hamdi for three years, and she also married the artist Salah Zulfikar until she separated from him in 1969, and she did not have children.

She decided to retire and wear the hijab in 1984, when she was fifty years old. And she devoted her life after retirement to caring for orphaned children, especially since she had no children.
