Salman Khan was born on December 27, 1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. His real name is Abdul Rashid Salem Salman Khan. He is the eldest son of a Muslim father, Salim Khan, the Indian screenwriter, and a Hindu Marathi mother, who is Salma Khan. His family celebrates the holidays of Muslims and Hindus alike, and Salman Khan has always sung about this intermarriage in his family, which he is proud of, as he belongs to a Muslim family on his father’s side, and a Hindu on his mother’s side, and his family celebrates the holidays of Muslims and Hindus alike. His grandfather was a Muslim from Afghanistan who came to India and settled in Madhya Pradesh. He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita, but Arpita is his adopted sister. Khan did his schooling at St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra, Mumbai.

Salman Khan entered the world of acting for the first time in 1988 through the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi in a minor role. His first commercial success was in 1989 in the movie Maine Pyar Kiya, in which he won for the first time the Filmfare Award for Best Male Performance. He starred in some of the hit films of the period such as Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Judwaa (1997), Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and Biwi No.1 (1999). In 1999 Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and has since starred in several critically and commercially successful films, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam(2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), No Entry (2005), Partner (2007), Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Ready (2011) and Bodyguard (2011) which became the second highest-grossing Bollywood film. Absolutely. Khan has thus established himself as one of the most successful actors in Indian cinema. He acted in more than 80 Indian films.

In 2004, Salman Khan was chosen as the seventh best-looking man in the world by People magazine in the United States. Khan has been involved in numerous charities during his career. On 11 October 2007, Khan accepted an offer from Madame Tussauds in London to have a wax replica of him made. Thus, he became the fourth Indian actor to have a wax statue made for him in that museum. He founded a non-governmental organization called (Being Human) that sells T-shirts and other products in stores and online, part of the sales goes to support the underprivileged. In April 2012 he became a brand ambassador for (Travel Website) and (Yatra.com) which also made him a shareholder. He also endorsed the History Channel, Suzuki motorcycles, and Mountain Dew.
