Biography, Life story
Nadine Labaki was born on February 18, 1974 in the Baabdat region in Lebanon. She studied media at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, and her graduation project won an award in Paris in 1998. Then she directed advertisements and video clips, where she directed many clips for artists. The most famous of them is Nancy Ajram.
At the beginning of the nineties, Nadine Labaki participated in a talent competition under the name (Studio El Fan) by Simon Asmar, and she participated in the directing competition, during which she presented a video clip for a singer named Carla under the name (Habibi Ya). Lebanese Pascal Machaalani, Katia Harb and others, and her star shone high when she presented the first songs of the Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram (I Love You Ah) in 2002, which met with extraordinary success, and was followed by another group of Nancy’s songs in addition to a large number of clips for a large group of stars, including: Carole Samaha, Nicole Saba, Yuri Marakadi, Nawal Al Zoghbi. She created a new wave in the field of video clip directing, and she is now considered one of the most famous female video clip directors, Al Arabiyat.
In 2004, Nadine Labaki attended the Cannes International Film Festival to write the movie (Sugar Banat). She also participated as an actress for the first time through the movie (Bosta). Sugar Banat is her first feature film, and it achieved an unprecedented success in Lebanese cinema. It won many awards and participated in the huge French Cannes Festival in 2007 before it was distributed to dozens of countries in Europe and all over the world.
Nadine Labaki married Khaled Mouzannar, the composer of the music for the movie Sugar Banat.
