Katy Perry was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California, in the United States, and she lived in a Christian family, where her parents were priests. Although she was forbidden to listen to music other than Christian songs, the songs of Freddie Mercury and Alanis Morissette caught her attention while she was at a house party with her friends. Nevertheless, Christian music remained her primary concern. In 2001, she released her first self-titled album, Katy Hudson, which consisted of Christian songs. However, in the end, she decided to move away from this genre and her real family name in order to establish an artistic career in the field of pop.
At the age of 17, Perry began her collaboration with Glen Ballard, who managed to produce records and co-write songs for Alanis Morrissette’s 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, which already charted at No. 1. A few years later, Perry worked with the Grammy Award-nominated producer/songwriter group The Matrix, and has worked with well-known artists such as Shakira, Korn, and many more.
