Hanan Motawie was born on February 23, 1979 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to an artistic family, as she is the only daughter of the artist Karam Motawie and the artist Suhair Al-Morshedy. She obtained a BA from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. She started her artistic career in 2001 through television, where she played the role of a singer in the series (Hadith al-Sabah and al-Masaa), then she presented her first cinematic work through the short film (The Pilots), and at the beginning of her career she received a measure of public acceptance that enabled her to complete her artistic career, where she worked In theatre, television, cinema and even radio.

Hanan Motawie was associated with actor Ahmed Rizk, but they decided to break off the engagement after a short period. In 2017, she married theater director Amir Al-Yamani.
