Biography, Life story

Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. She is the middle (second) daughter of Jean-Claude Lavigne, an employee of a telecommunications company, who is French, and Judy, her mother, of Franco-Ontarian origins. Although her origins are French, she does not speak the language, and her name is usually pronounced in the English dialect instead of French, and the meaning of the word April is the month of April, and Lavin refers to the stems of grapes.

Lavigne moved to Napanee, Ontario when she was five years old, and attended Cornerstone Christian Academy during her teens. Although she did not excel academically, she was distinguished athletically in terms of running, track and hockey games, as she was chosen as the best player for two consecutive years. She had taken up boyish or masculine hobbies, unlike girls her age usually, such as roller skating—since she was fourteen, hunting and camping, owing to the example of her older brother. In addition, she taught herself how to play the guitar and some other instruments, and she continued to sing in the church and in public areas, especially folk and country songs, which led to many Canadian singers discovering her talent. One day, a folk singer noticed Lavigne singing in a theater In general, he invited her to sing with him on some of his songs from the album that he was going to release. When she was thirteen years old, she won a singing competition, which enabled her to participate with Canadian singer Shania Twain in her concert in Toronto, by singing together one of Twain’s songs (What Made You Say That).

Avril Lavigne was discovered by her first manager, Cliff Fabry. At the age of 15, her talent caught the attention of L.A. Reed, the head of Arista, and his company immediately secured her first recording contract, collaborating with her to release her first album, Let Go, the following year. And when she was guaranteed to get the contract, she gave up studying in the eleventh grade, and, according to her, she did not know anything in terms of issuing albums and songs during that period.

Lavigne then moved to New York City in the United States, where she met with a group of the best authors and music producers, but she was disappointed in the quality of the work, so she had to move to Los Angeles, where she was able to contact the composer Cliff Magennis and the Matrix team (a team made up of a group of the authors), and co-wrote her songs with them. By the age of seventeen, she released her first album, “Let Go.”

Lavigne’s debut album was an instant hit in a large number of countries, which led to her becoming one of the best and most successful new singers of the time, as many young singers began to quote her rebellious style in their songs, launched a new fashion trend, and most importantly, she received several International nominations, awards and certificates. Releases and albums followed after this success.

Lavigne is considered one of the most famous and successful singers, as her music is usually dominated by a rebellious or “punk” style, as she presents herself as an ordinary boyish teenager, and her music generally talks about teenagers, especially in her first album, which made her a distinguished position in the musical milieu.

Its genres are not only rock and pop, but also alternative rock, teen pop, and pop rock. She is also good at playing different instruments, including the piano, drums and guitar, but critics question her ability to play the latter, claiming that her ability is limited to playing the basic keys only.

Avril Lavigne has shown an interest in acting, especially recently, as she used to appear on television or in movies to sing one of her songs at first, but later deepened. According to Lavigne, she considers acting as another way to show her talents and feelings.

Lavigne converts to Christianity and follows the Catholic doctrine, and she usually participated in singing with the choir in the church, and this was the credit for discovering her talent.

Lavigne, after going through adolescence, went through several changes in terms of her style, clothing, and even her behavior, and she was sometimes the focus of some types of controversy for the image she presents about herself.

Personal and emotional life

Avril Lavigne began dating Canadian rock singer Derek Whibley of the band Deaf 41 in 2004, and at the end of that year she tattooed a heart with a “D” inside it, which is supposed to stand for Derek’s name. Lavigne and Webley announced their engagement almost a year later on July 27, 2005, when he proposed her hand at the end of Lavigne’s “Bones” tour, during a picnic in Venice. The couple got married in a Catholic marriage ceremony in the presence of 110 people in a private area in Montecito, California, on July 15, 2006, and their first dance took place to the tune of the song “Iris” by the “Go Go Dolls” group.
When Lavigne was asked why she wore a white wedding dress designed by Vera Wang, other than her rebellious image, she replied that she was confused in this aspect and really wanted a marriage that corresponded to that image, but according to what she said: “I did not want to look at the pictures of the wedding ceremony after the passage of 20 years old and I ask myself why did I choose this hairstyle?” Lavigne also describes herself as “the best thing that ever happened to her husband,” and that their relationship is pretty strong. In addition, she does not regret getting married at this age because she is mature, although she did not expect to get married at this age. She also stated that she is not currently ready to have children, but she hopes to do so in the future. On September 17, 2009, it was announced that Lavigne and Webley had separated, and that a divorce was about to take place, and on October 9, 2009, Lavigne filed for divorce, but it was not actually confirmed, legally, until November 16, 2010.
