Soad Hosny was born on January 26, 1942 in the Bulaq neighborhood of Giza Governorate, Egypt, to an artistic family. Her father (Muhammad Hosni Al-Baba) was a calligrapher, and she had sixteen brothers and sisters, and she ranked tenth among her sisters. She has only two sisters (Kawthar) and (Sabah), and eight brothers on her father’s side, including four males and four females, and six sisters on her mother’s side, including three males and three daughters. Among the most famous of her sisters from the father is the singer Najat Al Saghira, and her mother separated from her father when she was five years old, and the mother married the second husband (Abdul Moneim Hafez), the education inspector, and in her custody are her three daughters (Kawthar, Souad and Sabah), Souad did not enter regular schools, and her education was confined to the home. The first meeting between her and Anwar Al-Baba took place in 1963 at the house of the Lebanese artist, Muhammad Shamel.

Souad Hosny is one of the most famous artists in Egypt and the Arab world. Her artistic talent was discovered by the poet (Abdul Rahman Al-Khamisi), who included her in his play (Hamlet) by Shakespeare in the role of (Ophelia), and she began acting in 1959 when director (Henry Barakat) included her in the crew of his movie (Hassan and Naima). ) in the role of (Naima), then the works continued, where she played many roles, the most famous of which revolves around the beautiful girl that everyone loves, she was called Cinderella of the Arab screen, she worked in the artistic field for thirty years, during which she presented many works, most of them in the cinema.

Souad Hosny married five times during her life, the first of which was her unconfirmed marriage to the artist Abdel Halim Hafez, which was raised by some of those close to her and confirmed by some Egyptian journalists, such as Mufid Fawzy, his friend, who confirmed more than once that she was married to him and that he died in 1977 and she is under his custody, and he said Also in one of the seminars in Alexandria, he keeps documents and an important cassette tape of this incident, but he does not want to exploit such personal issues for his friends, but this marriage was not recognized by her family for a long time that extended after her death, and on the website created by her sister Janjah, it was said that her family finally recognized With her marriage to Abdul Halim Hafez and added him to the list of her husbands, so that the number of her marriages becomes 5 marriages, after that she married the photographer and director Salah Karim for a year, then Ali Badrakhan, the son of director Ahmed Badrakhan, for eleven years that ended in 1980, then she married Zaki Fatin Abdel Wahhab Ibn Laila Murad and director Fateen Abdel-Wahhab for only a few months, and her last marriage was to screenwriter Maher Awad, who died while she was still married to him.

Souad Hosny died on June 21, 2001 in London, the capital of England, after she fell from the balcony of her house. Ironically, the date of her death corresponds to the same day as Abdel Halim Hafez’s birth on June 21, 1929
