Biography, Life story

Fadl Shaker was born on 1 April 1969 in Sidon, Lebanon. When his uncle changed his family name, Fadel did the same and filed a lawsuit to change his family name and profit, and his name became officially Fadel Shaker.

He started his artistic life in his hometown of Sidon early at the age of 15 in small parties and weddings. He performed many original songs with Arab legends such as Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez, Farid Al Atrash, Mohamed Abdel Wahab and many other famous singers of his generation as well. Fadl continued to try to reach fame until 1998, when he set the tune for the song ‘Mata Habibi When’. Meanwhile, Fadl got acquainted with one of the production companies, the ‘Al-Khool’ company, which contracted with him for 10 years, and the Egyptian musician ‘Salah al-Sharnoubi’ helped him in… His album and his artistic launch, and Fadl always acknowledged his thanks to him. Fadl sang the song himself and it was one of the songs that contributed to the beginning of his star’s brilliance in the world of singing. Fadl continued to present songs and albums in cooperation with the same company “Al Khayoul” and he had an album with another company, which is (Master Melody) in 2000. In 2001 with Rotana, and in 2002, a dispute occurred between Fadl and the manager of the company, and Fadl tried to withdraw from it because its manager was trying to obstruct his business, but he did not succeed. In 2003, Fadl dealt with the “Al-Amer” company to produce singles for him, as he could not release a full album due to his contract with horses. Then in the same year, the horse company united with the company ‘Rotana’, which Fadl became under its sponsorship. He has released 11 albums and 21 singles so far.

Fadl loves fishing on his boat on the shores of the city of his birth (Sidon), and he also loves more sports. He loves to play the piano, and listens to old and new music with his wife and children.

Contrary to the popular belief that he is of Palestinian origin, he declared that he is honored to be Palestinian, but that he is “Lebanese, father and grandfather.” He stated that he was raised in the Palestinian camps in the reconstruction of Ain al-Hilweh and sang on its roofs and among its people, and that he is married to a Palestinian woman. At the request of Fadel Shaker, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas decided to grant him Palestinian citizenship and issue a Palestinian passport in his name.

Regarding his family life, Fadel Shaker was singing at one of his concerts. His eyes fell on one of the girls and he admired her, and then he watched her several times, and asked one of his acquaintances to ask her if she would accept to propose to her and ask for her hand in marriage. If she agreed to request the song of the artist George Wassouf, and indeed she requested the song Fadl proposed to her and asked for her hand, and the marriage took place. At that time, Fadl was about 20 years old in 1989. Fadl always says (I married for a sweet love story).. His wife’s name is Nadia, who is of Palestinian origin, and they have three children: Alhan, born in 1990 and Muhammad was born in 1994 and Rana was born in 2002.

Fadel Shaker announced his retirement from singing at the end of 2012, and became a lieutenant of the clergy and committed Muslims. After a lot of news about his retirement, Fadel Shaker appeared for the first time on Al-Rahma channel from the city of Sidon in Lebanon to announce his retirement from singing because of a number of things, including what is religious and some of which are political, and he returns to the events in Syria, including what lies in the conditions of art today, as he considered that Art deteriorates in the absence of unions and artistic institutions.
