Enrique Iglesias was born on May 8, 1975 in Madrid, the capital of Spain. He is the third child of the Spanish singer (Julio Iglesias), and his mother is (Isabel Preysler), of Philippine origin, and she used to work as a journalist, and he has two brothers, (Chabeli Iglesias) and (Julio Iglesias Jr.). In 1986, their grandfather (Dr. Julio Iglesias Boga) was kidnapped by the ETA gang, and in order to ensure their safety, Enrique and his brother (Julio Iglesias Jr.) were sent to Miami, United States. He also lived for a year in the city of Belgrade with his mother, in 1979 his parents separated. He later went on to study business administration at the University of Miami. Enrique did not want his father to know about his plans for a musical career and did not want his famous family name to help him launch his career. He borrowed money from his family’s nanny and recorded a demo cassette consisting of one Spanish song and two English songs. With the help of his father’s former agent (Fernan Martinez), we were able to promote the songs under the name (Enrique Martinez) on the grounds that he is an unknown singer from Guatemala. He signed with the Mexican company Fonovisa. After dropping out of college, he traveled to Toronto to record his first album.
Between 1995 and 1988, he released three albums in the Spanish language, through which he set his foot on the first steps of the success ladder, as the first albums in a language other than English were to achieve great success in sales. Between 1999 and 2002, he directed towards issuing two albums in English and achieved great success, before returning to issuing albums in English. He is considered one of the most famous Latin artists in history and has won dozens of awards during his artistic career.
In late 2001, Enrique began dating former tennis player Anna Kournikova, who participated with him in the song Escape in 2001, and later announced that they had married in 2007, but later separated.
In 2003, he underwent surgery to remove a circular mole from his right cheek, due to the possibility that this mole might turn into cancer over time.
